Anantapur District is one of the districts of Andhra Pradesh which is located in Southern region in India. It comes under hot arid zone with its record of 2nd lowest rainfall district in the country. The Government of India has also brought the district under Desert Development Programme. Totally dependent on rain fed agriculture, Anantapur district farmers are paying for the ecological devastation brought over decades since by people’s attitude, by and large towards policies of the Government.
